Hello and welcome to my first post to the WSKG blogosphere, and to be honest, my first blog post ever. Wish me luck.
Why blog? The answer is simply to give viewers, listeners and members of WSKG an opportunity to ask me questions and provide feedback to our organization. I hope to create a two-way street to exchange information, ideas and opinions.
The WSKG Strategic Plan highlights values that WSKG staff and the Board of Trustees strive to uphold. I believe that this blog will address a few of these values, including Transparency, Accountability, Open-Mindedness, Responsiveness and, especially for me, Courage.
We believe very strongly that WSKG, public broadcasting and non-commercial, educational programming are more valuable than ever in a media landscape that has become more commercial and less educational. With media consolidation on the rise, I believe that locally owned and operated television and radio stations have a very important role in our communities. What do you think? What role do you think WSKG should play?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Until next time,
Brian
