WSKG is looking forward to a fall season full of exciting new events and programs!
See familiar friends and make new discoveries during this month's WSKG Public Television Membership Campaign. Catch a rebroadcast of WSKG's Twilight Zone LIVEon September 18th at 8:00pm (originally broadcast live on October 3rd, 2009) and a special in-studio performance by members of Celtic Thunderon September 11th at 8:00pm. Keith Harkin and Neil Byrne will join WSKG staffers at our studios to raise funds and to promote their December concert here in Binghamton!
On September 9th, WSKG will welcome IBM employees and retirees to the studio for a sneak peek of rare archival footage that will be used in our upcoming documentary, WATSON. Emmy Award-winning producer Brian Frey (WSKG's Television Broadcast Operations Director) will discuss highlights of his research, and attendees will be among the first to financially support the creation of this film. The Southerntiersman will join us, sing songs from the era and lead our guests in a few IBM company tunes!
WSKG Public Radio anticipates an exciting month with the new season of RadioLab beginning September 9th at 1:00pm (rebroadcast at 7:00pm). Listen for new episodes each Thursday through October 7th and your favorite encore broadcasts from previous seasons after that.
WSKG's Community Conversation will record a special episode in Uris Auditorium at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY on September 9th. Host Crystal Sarakas and guests will look at issues facing incoming freshman as they transition into college. Stay tuned for event particulars, and listen for the broadcast on Septemeber 21st at 7:00pm on WSKG Public Radio.
Reports from the Local Journalism Center will also continue this September. WSKG's Emma Jacobs and her fellow Innovation Trail reporters will bring reports on wind power in upstate New York for the first half of September and will finish out the month with a series on natural gas drilling. Funded by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), the Local Journalism Center helps the public gain a better understanding of the connection between technological breakthroughs and the revitalization of upstate New York's economy. Listen for more reports on energy, information technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology and photonics as the Innovation Trail progresses.
On September 6th at 8:30am and 2:30pm, see the premiere of PBS's newest show for WSKG Kids, The Cat in The Hat Knows a Lot About That! Also this fall, WSKG's award-winning children's health and wellness TV show, Move It!, returns with all new episodes! The Blueberryanators and the Ripe Bananas started filming the second season this summer and you'll be able to see them again on October 2nd. Team members are gearing up for a visit to the Chenango Forks Ropes Course this month. Look for the Ithaca Children's Garden, Cornell's Lindseth Climbing
Wall, Vestal's Jones Park and the BMets Summer Players Camp as our new episodes premiere on WSKG TV. Join us for a special Working on Wellness and Move It!Season 2 kick-off on September 18th at Otsiningo Park from 9:00am - 1:00pm!
Science in the Park wraps up at the West Kortright Centre Farm Fair in East Meredith, NY on September 5th. Visit with WSKG staff and participate in hands-on activities just for kids!
